“All my life…”

Since I’ve arrived here in the Netherlands I’ve been quite culturally removed from Ireland. #linux, #nonado and Breaking News.ie have been my only consistent connections with Irishness.
An unexpected side effect I’ve noticed is that I’ve become more aware of some world politics. For the first time ever I’ve taken an interest in what’s happening in Israel / Palestine.
But I’ve also been “…Watching America”. The following are some issues / situations that are unfolding in the United States but may have paralells or affect others outside the US.
- The FBI are trying to impose a chilling effect in American Universities.
- Social Networking Sites are showing trends related to Socio-Economic classes (Well worth a read, don’t form any opinions until you have finished the article though).
- The MPAA, RIAA and other Profit Driven Corporations haven’t relented much on the Cash vs. Creativity front. But some people have been fighting back.
