London Part II
by David Dolphin on Jun.25, 2006, under Abroad, London, UK
Just after my last post I brought my sisters and Mum to the Apple store. They were very impressed, everything from the amount off free space in the store to OS X (Louise was heard saying “Ahh, so this in the next step up after Windows XP”).
Next was Hay Fever with Judi Dench. There were some great quotes from it like “Why are you being so nice to me? Its like you’ve got some plan about something” and “I won’t listen / You’ll pretend not to but you’ll hear every word”. It was nice not to have a second Musical, there was a campaign for Phantom of the Opera which would have driven me mad
Sunday morning we caught Mass in Westminster Cathedral and then went to take a trip on the London Eye. Due to Long ques (1hour+) we were unable to go to the Science Museum (
) Went to Covent Garden after then off to the Airport to fly home. Back in the Airport I did manage to get another chance to play with a BlackBook.
So that was London, all in all a good trip.
London Part I

I’ve been in London for more than 24 hours now and I’m still not even half way through.
I’m currently writing this on a Black MacBook (BlackBook) (cypher:
) in the Regent street store which is rather cool (both the store and the laptop). I’ll probably end up getting one at the end of the summer, depending on how exams go.
Went to see Les Misérables last night and even though I’ve seen it before the staging and lighting were very well done. Also did a Bus tour this morning and a tour of the National Gallery. Also got tickets to go on the London Eye tomorrow.
Could defiantly see myself living here if I have to in the future.
Going to see Judi Dench in a show tonight which should be cool.
I’ll keep ye posted.
Stress
by David Dolphin on Jun.23, 2006, under Abroad, Iota, Meteor, Work
Today has been one of the most stressful days I’ve had in a long time. Anyone who knows me should know that it takes alot to stress me out… and I’m currently stressed out. Where do we start?
- The work bit of work was fun… Customers range from the technologically ignorant (yes, a button… no not on clothes… I’m sorry, are you from the past?) to the foreigners who don’t pay their bills and blame it on you and the 21 year olds crying down the phone to you for some form of free credit (I’m sorry, you appear to have the wrong number, this is not a charity).
- Next, Apparently I’m heading off to London in about 7 hours. Last weekend I sorted out a shift swap so one of the guys would work my shift tomorrow and all was well… Apparently not. He cant make it and I’m left wondering if I’ll get to go to London tomorrow. I’ll find out about an hour before the plane takes off it i can get on it or not.
- Got in a small bit of trouble at work too. During my break one of the guys was on a call and I nicked his shoes (he had taken them off) and threw them in the Comms room. Then locked the Comms room and went back to taking calls. Then sent around a mail saying “Laugh at X, He has no shoes”. Everyone laughed. Except my supervisor.
- So finished work at 12 and cycled into town to congratulate my Girlfriend on her finishing the Leaving Cert. Had no ID with me and so couldn’t go drinking (badly needed to). Then on the way home the chain of my bike got lodged between the gears.
- And finally was told “Why haven’t you packed yet?”.
I cant win ![]()
